Action Medical Research for Children

The National Charity Action Medical Research, for Children:-

Today in the UK, there are hundreds of thousands of sick and disabled children who need help. Research is the key to saving many of these children from a lifetime of suffering. We’re here to help save and change the lives of sick and disabled children but can only do this with your support.

Treating sick and vulnerable babies – Action Medical Research is dedicated to funding research to help reduce the high rate of premature birth and improve treatment for sick babies.

Helping children affected by disability and infections – With your help we aim to support children facing a lifetime of challenges caused by disabilities such as cerebral palsy; help children dealing with the impact of disabling conditions like diabetes, epilepsy, asthma and multiple sclerosis; and prevent potentially deadly infections like meningitis.

Targeting rare diseases in children – Thousands of families across the UK are coping with the challenge of caring for a child with a rare and devastating disease for which there is no cure. With your help we can develop therapies for diseases in children including the genetic disorder Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome, rare forms of brain cancer and blindness, as well as startle disease.

Action Medical Research successes – For over 60 years, with the help of all our supporters, we have played a significant role in many medical breakthroughs, starting with the development of the first UK polio vaccine.
